I’m a writer, teacher, history nut and story collector, mother to two young people, sister to seven (yes, seven!) siblings. Sadly, no longer a ‘daughter’ to anyone, having lost Mum 12 years ago and my dear old dad more recently to cancer. It’s been a year already but I’m still adjusting to having the ‘offspring’ category removed from my list.
Both parents still turn up in my writing, though. I’m descended through Dad from the Vikings and through my East End mother from a prolific and well known (in his era) Victorian playwright, who never-the-less died penniless, leaving his wife and youngest children in the poorhouse.
I live in the East Midlands where I enjoy reading, writing creatively, painting, listening to folk music and – for some reason – raiding, pillaging and gutting fish.
